Wednesday We Were Breaking the Ice in Amsterdam
Wednesay, April 2nd. First day of summit, first day of me going out after a few days of being sick. The day of two charming bands: Blister Blue and The Amsterdams.
Setting: Suburbia. The place looks amazing, the prices are decent and the staff is wonderful. They really made a great place out of what was there a couple of years ago. Go check it out!
Time: Around 9 o’clock.
Alcohol dose: one Karhu beer (who am I kiddin’, it was Ursus ).
Mood: happy and enthousiastic, jumping around boyfriend, who was busy with camera/filming.
The bands: entertaining, profi, a little nervous before the whole thing started but really great on stage. Seriously. It was a great gig. Perfect atmosphere, perfect songs, perfect public. I never really made it to the finish though, let’s just say that The Ams have a way greater stamina than I do.

TFN - It’s a Long Way to the Top
E greu sa fi artist in Bucurestiul anului 2008. E si mai greu sa fi membrul unei formatii relativ necunoscute, sau dupa cum zicea cineva, sa activezi intr-o TFN (Trupa Fara Nume). E greu sa faci coveruri si e greu sa te deplasezi in locuri ciudate (ca sa nu zic locuri ce ar trebui sanctionate de Directia de Sanatate Publica pentru frigul ingrozitor si umezeala care poate duce usor la o pneumonie) pentru 2-3 ore in care cineva care tocmai a luat contact cu teoria muzicala - programa la muzica de clasa a 5-a sau a 6-a - se considera teoretician si superior tie pentru ca nu bati masura (care de altfel, mai degraba te incurca decat sa te ajute). E greu sa progresezi. E greu sa depasesti stadiul de TFN si sa treci pe treapta urmatoare (probabil TFR - Trupa Fara Renume), e greu sa iti scrii propriile cantece, dar e si mai greu sa rogi pe cineva sa ti le scrie. E greu sa le canti. E greu sa gasesti oameni care vor sa te ajute, e greu sa gasesti pe cineva care are bunavointa de a-ti da o sansa, de a crede in tine. Abia dupa aceea se poate considera ca ai o sansa.
De ce scriu asta? Pentru ca astazi la ora 10 si un pic, in aceasta sfanta duminica, sarbatoare religioasa si traditionala, (noi - Vali & I) am asistat in calitate de invitati la niste repetitii. Nu stiu ce fel de formatie era, nu stiu daca avea nume sau nu. Dar stiu ca era frig in sala si ca eram intr-o cladire cu pericol de prapusire la cea mai mica urma de activitate seismica (sau de microfonie) din zona Timpuri Noi.

I discovered this band a couple of years ago by clicking on a quite big link in a signature
on the NW forum, mainly out of curiosity. I loved everything and stalked the myspace
page waiting for the songs to be available for downloading. I did get my hands on “Lullaby” and had it on repeat for quite a while, both on my computer and on the mp3 player.
I would really be grateful if they do a re-recording of that song.

I recently listened to their new demo “All yet to be born” and remembered all my excitement for the band. The “Lullaby” obsession happened all over again, this time with “The Quest”.
I’ve always thought their songs had something music industry generally lacks. That “something” that is hard to find, that “something” which is more obsessive than catchy. What I really like and respect about them is they managed to surpass all the bands they have stated as their influences.
I strongly advise you to take a look at their MySpace or soundclick and give them a try if you haven’t already. Apparently they have quite a number of fans here I didn’t know about until today. For more information (bio, news, pictures) check the official pages.

I’m trying to decide which one is the worst.
Choices are: “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Poison”. Now, my two-cent: when you are a dramatic soprano, you don’t cover Nirvana or Alice Cooper, no matter how much you love the songs. It just doesn’t work. I am actually looking forward to Alice’s comments, as I am pretty sure he won’t keep quiet. xD We all know he’s into new stuff, otherwise he wouldn’t have shown such a great interest in Panic! At The Disco.
And Tarja, I want to hear your version of “Whiskey in the Jar” *puppy eyes*
